Here we go. I think writer's block is starting to set in. Not good.
Part 11
REGULAR POINT OF VIEW
Okay, that wasn’t so hard. On TV, they always over dramatize breakups. Tre then reappeared.
“Where’d Billie go?” he asked.
“Um…” Where did Billie go? Right after out conversation, he excused himself. He wasn’t hurt, was he? Great, now I felt guilty. “He went off somewhere. I…kinda broke up with him.”
“You did what?? Why?” he exclaimed, suddenly panicky.
“Uh…I told you already. Is there a problem with that?” Why was everyone acting so weird?
?? Was something going on?
“Oh no….Nye, look. Um…okay…damn, well…”
“Out with it!”
“You know what? Nevermind! I have better idea!”
“And that would consist of…?” I was almost afraid to ask.
TRE’S POINT OF VIEW
Okay. I was risking my ass doing this, but I knew what Adrienne was capable of. And she had both Billie Joe and Mike wrapped like boa constrictors around her little finger. So…I had made my decision. The only person that would notice something was up would be Adrienne. And she can’t say anything, because it would blow her cover. Problem solved.
I wish. She had to say yes first.
“It would consist of you pretending to be my girlfriend.” I blurted out.
She stared blankly, and blinked a few times. “Pretending to be your girlfriend? What?? Why??”
“If I tell you, you won’t believe me, so just say yes.”
“Fine, whatever.” She looked incredibly confused, but the deal with Adrienne was that I couldn’t tell.
Not that I couldn’t foil her plans.
BILLIE’S POINT OF VIEW
“What the fuck do you mean she broke up with you??!!” Adrienne nearly screeched.
I winced. I hated to see her so angry. “Just that! She broke up with me just now!”
“God dammit, Billie, I give you a simple task, and you can’t do it!!”
“Sorry! What do you want me to do now??” I hated it when she yelled at me.
“Just what we planned from the beginning. Of course, it’ll be even trickier now, but whose fault is that?”
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, I fucked up big time now. “Look, Adie, I’m sorry, okay? But honestly, how am I supposed to do this when I have no excuse?” I winced, waiting for her to chew me out again.
“You’re absolutely right.”
I blinked. Then I rubbed my ears to make sure I had heard right. “Excuse me?”
She rolled her eyes. “I said you’re absolutely right. But, you don’t need an excuse…” Her eyes twinkled, and I could tell she was coming up with another devilish scheme. But this time, I could actually tell what she was thinking.
“Adrienne, this is where I have to put my foot down. No way, uh-uh, I’m not doing it.”
Her arms slid around my neck. “Just for me?”
I was a fool to seduction. “But…Adrienne, really, that’s too extreme…”
She pressed her body against mine. “Once.”
I sighed, my breathing starting to get short and uneven. How did she always manage to do this to me?? “I could get…”
“You won’t get caught.”
“But Adrienne-“ I could feel my legs turning to jelly.
“Shhhhhhh…” She kissed me lightly. “Because you love me.”
I honestly, truly, wanted to cry. “Okay. Because I love you.”
REGULAR POINT OF VIEW
Was I seeing what I thought I was seeing? I just wanted a bathroom break, and instead, I catch the guy I just broke up with kissing his supposed to be ex-girlfriend, that’s dating my best friend, who’s head over heels for her.
Was this what Tre was talking about? But wait, it couldn’t be, or else what would pretending to be his girlfriend have to do with anything?
Gah. I just backed up slowly into the cafeteria. What was I supposed to tell Mike???
Nothing, I decided. It was only one little kiss. And what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him, will it?
Will it??
Wait just a gosh darn minute! Why had he run to Adrienne ANYWAYS??? What was she supposed to do? Help him get me back with her tongue?? This was obviously a long term thing. Meaning….
They never broke up.
