Okay, I'm posting this by force of Whatsername. So if you like it you can thank Karla and if you hate it, you can blame her. She's making me post it, she threatened to kick my ass.
Acceberra Klate sat in the front seat of her father’s friend’s car excitedly. Her father, Ralph’s friend had invited her to go to a concert of her favorite band, Green Day.
“Excited?” Carl, her father’s friend asked smiling slightly.
“Excited?!” Ace, as she liked to be called, said. “I’m shaking!” Carl chuckled a little.
“Well, we’re almost there.” Ace had awesome seats. Carl owned a suite in the place where the concert was being held, so Ace had the luck of sitting up in the suite. Not that she really cared where exactly she sat. As long as she got to see Green Day.
They were a little late to the concert but it didn’t matter to Ace. They had missed the opening act which was a band she didn’t particularly care for, and they arrived as the stage was being set up for Green Day. Ace thought to herself that she wouldn’t have been able to stand waiting for the other band to get off anyway, so it worked fine for her. Ace sat in the back of the suite, where she couldn’t even see the stage. She’d go sit down in her seat when they come out. Every few minutes the audience would yell and Ace would jump up, seeing it was just about something that it said on a screen. She was really starting to get annoyed at that.
Then the pink bunny came out, and it was slightly amusing but Ace, impatiently, just wanted the thing to get off the stage so Green Day would come on. Eventually, there was an unmistakable cheer, and the lights began to dim. Ace ran to her seat, excitedly. And then, Green Day ran on. The concert went by, Ace sang along to every song, cheered and laughed at all the funny things and eventually Billie Joe started thanking everyone. Ace was so mad it was over. She waited while Billie Joe talked and eventually they ran off stage. Ace started chanting ‘Green Day’ in her mind and then noticed her thoughts were being echoed by the audience. She looked up and watched a flashing “Green….Day…Green… Day” and as the band ran back on.
“Planned encores.” Ace muttered to herself, rolling her eyes. She happily enjoyed the rest of the concert all the way until Billie Joe finished singing Good Riddance. Ace had to chuckle when she remembered all the posers she knew who didn’t even know what Good Riddance was unless you said “Time of your Life”. Everyone cheered as Billie Joe finished. But he didn’t go off stage. He had said the song before this one was their last song. Ace just shrugged, gladly. The longer the concert lasted, the happier she was. Ace watched as Tre and Mike walked back on stage.
“I have a very special announcement to make.” Billie Joe said. He then walked off the stage and into the crowd, walking up the seats, towards the top. People screamed when he passed by and tried to touch him.
‘What’s going on?’ She wondered to herself. She stopped breathing though, when Billie Joe stopped at her row.
“Where is she?” She heard him ask Carl. Ace’s heart stopped beating when Carl pointed at her. Billie Joe came over to her, smiling. She didn’t even have time to register what was going on, before Billie Joe took her hand and led her to the stage. Ace was completely lost. She looked back at Carl in fear. Not the “I’m-scared-of-this-random-dude-puling-me” kind of fear, but the confused type of fear. She wasn’t breathing and she was more confused than all the times she’d been confused in her life put together. Billie lead her up the steps, on to the center of the stage. Ace looked around nervously, at a smiling Mike and a grinning Tre.
“Ladies and gentleman,” Billie Joe said into the microphone. “This is Acceberra. My daughter.” Ace started coughing.
‘WHAT?!’ Her mind was screaming, but the words wouldn’t exit her mouth. Not a sound was heard. The audience was stunned and Ace felt like she was going to faint. And just like that, Billie Joe led Ace off stage, Mike and Tre following. He led her all the way to the dressing room where all three men sat down. Ace couldn’t talk. She couldn’t breathe, she couldn’t move. She was so perplexed!
“Acceberra?” Billie Joe asked, somewhat worried. And of all the things a person would say in her position, of all the happy screaming anyone would be doing, all she could think of to say was
“Ace.”
“What?” Billie Joe asked, confused.
“I’m called Ace.”
“Oh. Okay. Well, uh...interesting announcement, there huh?” He asked trying to lighten the mood a bit.
“What?” She asked finally. As if what he had said on stage finally registered.
“I said, interesting announce--”
“No, I know what you said…what the hell were you talking about though?” As much as Ace would want Billie Joe Armstrong as a father she knew it wasn’t true. But why the hell would he say it? In front of everyone, no less.
“You deserve an explanation.” Billie Joe said.
‘Hell yes, I do!’ She thought, but couldn’t seem to voice it. “When you were born,” Billie began, “I wasn’t ready to have a kid. But I loved you…so I wasn’t gonna just dump you at some orphanage. I found a family willing to take you but I told them it wasn’t going to be forever. Just until I was ready, and I thought you were old enough, to have a rock star father to live with.” This was amazing for Ace. And she was sure Billie had practiced that mini speech. Hell, it didn’t even matter that her father was Billie Joe Armstrong. Just as long as Ralph Klate wasn’t. Ace hated her family. Her mother and father, no, the Klates, she mentally corrected herself, made her life miserable. They never did anything like physically abusing her, but sometimes verbal abuse could be just as bad. Ace collapsed onto a couch right behind her.
“This is unreal.” She muttered. Tre and Mike got up and walked out, leaving together father and daughter. Being the friends that they were, they had stayed with Billie for the support he needed to tell her. But now that he had, it was best to leave them alone. They needed to talk alone.
“Yeah, this is pretty shocking for you.” Billie agreed.
“I…wow…” Ace could barely talk; she was in so much shock.
“Umm, if you’re thinking this is a bad idea because I’ll always be on tour or whatever,” Billie said quickly, trying as hard as possible to convince her. After all, Billie had no idea that Ace hated the people she had thought to be her father for the past fourteen years. “It won’t be like that. I’ll get you a tutor so you won’t have to be in school…you’ll be with us.”
“This is all happening so fast…” Ace muttered.
“Heh…yeah, I suppose it is. I’ve been planning this for fourteen years though.” Ace nodded. It pained Billie to say it but,
“If you’d rather stay was the Klates though---”
“NO!” Ace cut him off. Hearing those words, she had come to her senses. Billie was a little taken aback.
“I don’t like them.” She said flatly. Billie nodded.
“Then it’s no problem? You wanna come live with me…?” He asked hopefully, nervously.
“Yeah…forgive me. This is a lot cooler than I’m showing…I’m still in shock…I’ll probably scream of happiness like days from now.” Billie laughed a bit and nodded
I have some parts after this already written (I just need to type some of them, since I wrote it during History and Bio. O:-) ) So yeah, uh tell me what you think and any constructive criticism you might have.
Thanks,
Ale
